When: Wednesday, February 15 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Where: Clifford Chance 2001 K Street, NW Washington, DC Topic: "Protecting Confidential Records, Your Clients and Your Own" The latest in our "Word According to GARM" series will address laws that govern the privacy and security of sensitive records, the types of information covered, best practices for handling sensitive records, administrative, technical and physical security requirements for sensitive data, and the consequences of failing to secure records (i.e. security breach).
Presenter: Robin Campbell is a lawyer and member of Crowell & Moring's Privacy & Data Protection team. She specializes in the development and implementation of information management strategies for the handling of personal information, including employee, customer, and consumer information. Robin focuses on the myriad state security breach notification statutes and the HITECH breach notification provisions, advising clients both on safeguard protocols and response plans in advance of a breach and notification procedures and best practices after a security breach.

The Greater Washington, DC Chapter has served records and information management professionals for over 30 years. The Chapter provides monthly educational meetings, seminars, workshops and other networking opportunities for practitioners in the Greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. As with any organization, membership has its privileges, but most of the events hosted by the chapter are open to members and non-members alike. All who have an interest in the profession on any level are welcome.

ARMA International is a not-for-profit association serving more than 10,000 information management professionals in the United States, Canada, and over 30 other nations since 1955. ARMA International members include records and information managers, IT professionals, imaging specialists, archivists, hospital administrators, legal administrators, librarians, and educators. Programs and Events
The Greater Washington DC Chapter holds monthly meetings from September to June at a Metro-accessible location. The meetings are open to anyone who has an interest in records and information management issues.
